Nigeria claimed a 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau on Monday evening to confirm their spot in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16.
Opa Sangante diverted a cross past his own goalkeeper to score the only goal of the match.
Before today, the Super Eagles were on four points, after drawing 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea and beating Cote d’Ivoire 1-0.
This win takes Jose Peseiro’s men up to seven points.
Although they finish on the same points with Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria qualified as runners-up based on an inferior goal difference.
The three-time African champions will now face the country that finishes in second place in Group C.
That game will be played on Saturday night.
