Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has officially announced his intention to contest for the state’s top job in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Aiyedatiwa made this declaration on Friday during an interview on TVC news shortly after the burial of his immediate predecessor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Mr. Aiyedatiwa took office on December 27, 2023, following the passing of Akeredolu after a prolonged illness. The funeral rites for the former governor were held at his country home in Owo, Owo council area of the state, amidst somber moments.
Addressing reporters after the burial, Aiyedatiwa expressed his determination to participate in the November 16 governorship polls, emphasizing that no one aspires to govern for only one year. He asserted, “I will be running. I’m already a sitting governor, and let me say this, nobody wants to be governor for one year. Give me what the constitution allows me to do. At least, let me also have the chance of running for one more time.”The post I Can’t Be Governor For Just One Year – Ondo Gov Declares After Akeredolu Was Buried first appeared on Newsdirect.
